Barratt & David Wilson Homes propose a housing development at Bawtry Road, Sheffield.
The outline application proposes up to 160 new houses with landscaping, public open space and a landscaped drainage basin. A new access point will be provided off Bawtry Road.
The proposal is to make an outline planning application on the former Tinsley Social Club site.
This 5.6Ha site is a draft allocation in the emerging Sheffield Local Plan and the Council have provided positive pre-application advice on a number of technical matters.
Key Benefits
The Council are struggling to deliver enough housing to meet the City’s needs. This site can deliver much needed housing, without affecting the open countryside or the Green Belt.
The development of 160 houses here would create around 550 jobs, support 6 apprentices and generate new council tax to support local services.
The site is designated as open space but has not been used for well over a decade and so is not contributing to local sport or recreation needs. This application would make use of an under utilised land resource to help meet local needs.
It is deliverable and available for early development and can deliver a “traditional family housing” product, in a City where most new housing is apartments in the City Centre.
The site is well located and highly accessible to a range of service and facilities, and new residents will help to support public transport services.
The development will provide 15% of the site area as open space. This is above the recommended amount set in the Local Plan.
